STYLE TIPS (January) - Heels Support

I can’t seem to make tights work with heels. Any suggestions?

Pairing tights with heels is inherently practical—you're trying to stay warm, after all—so stop trying to achieve that frothy, made-of-cobwebs-and-dewdrops style that comes so effortlessly during warm-weather months. To make the look work for winter, the answer lies in the heels and soles of your shoes. Marni's rough-hewn wood-and-leather pump—think grown-up version of a clog—has a rustic simplicity that's very sexy when paired with textured stockings and a short skirt. It’s the weight of the shoes that balances the texture of the stockings so beautifully. But you don’t need to go all Swedish schoolgirl to pull off the tights-and-heels look. You’ve got options: The contrast of rich black hose against a more slender sparkly, strappy heel works too. A finer gauge stocking is the key to pulling off this dressier look—and a little texture on the shoe (rhinestones, gemstones, choose your sparkle accordingly) never hurts either.

Tatty Devine ♥

Tatty Devine was born in 1999 and is famous for its unique and quirky accessories. The pair behind it all, Rosie Wolfenden and Harriet Vine, have no formal training as jewellers. They met studying Fine Art at Chelsea School Of Art in 1996 and had planned to become artists until Harriet found some leather samples on the way home from the pub one night. She made some leather cuffs, she and Rosie sold them at Portabello and Spitalfields markets, and lo and behold, Tatty Devine was born! The fledgling label took off as Harvey Nichols bought their creations and, following interest from Browns Focus and Vogue magazine, the girls launched their first official collection for Spring Summer 2001 at London Fashion Week. In 2003 they began showing at Paris Fashion Week too and now also show case their collections in Berlin and New York. They now have over 100 retail outlets worldwide, including Colette in Paris and our own two shops in London. Tatty Devine’s H.Q., workshop and retail outlet opened in London’s Brick Lane in 2001. A second shop in stylish Soho followed in February 2004. Tatty Devine have forged partnerships with all kinds of people from avant-garde Berlin girl group Chicks on Speed (creating the accessories for their last tour) to the Tate Gallery. i've this one, and love it! like a piano hanging on my neck.. :)

SHOES

Are shoes a practical necessity or an object of desire?

Footwear trends of heel-obsessed fashionists paired with celebrity-driven trends now create the familiar modern mania for eye-catching, sexy, sensual shoes! Women have never got enough shoes, buying a pair of shoes could be compared to sex, but unlike sex, a sexy pair of shoes lasts considerably longer..

Well-heeled elegant stilettos are in! Red patent leather stilettos are the pinnacle of fashion this season and a must for every woman. The higher the heel, the more the shoe screams sex appeal and said to exert a powerful attraction on many men ‘red shoes, no knickers’. They are follow me shoes and the message today is that women are not afraid to ooze with sex appeal.

Shoe-aholic, a woman’s right to go on a shopping excursions and not to be made to feel guilty about buying yet another pair of shoes. The right shoes can make everything different. It can make you walk better and feel better no matter how bad your day has been.

You know you are a shoe-aholic when you wear stilettos in bed, spend your entire months salary on one pair of shoes, go on a weeks holiday and take over 7 pairs of shoes and buy a pair of shoes that don’t go with anything in your wardrobe.

The stiletto philosophy is about being a sexy and powerful woman, so when you next go out shopping, go and shop for a pair of sexy red patent leather stiletto shoes and become an object of desire.

HOT 2008-2009/ANKLE BOOTS - WHAT TO WEAR WITH ANKLE BOOTS

Ankle Boots with Long Skirts

Whether they're flat or heeled, ankle boots and long skirts are a classic combination. While I personally prefer to pair them with a long skirt that is on the fuller side, I've also seen ankle boots paired fairly successfully with long skirts that are more narrow. Whichever style you prefer, the key is to show no leg. If the skirt isn't long enough to cover the top of the ankle boot on its own, add a pair of tights.
